Wilderness Journey is a complete wilderness canoe trip outfitting and guide company with 100% focus on making your wilderness journey one you will cherish forever.  Wilderness Journey’s experienced guides will greatly enhance your outdoor experience by providing personalized service to groups of all sizes and varying skill levels.   According to your groups’ requests, we plan the best possible route to exceed your groups’ expectations.  Along the way, information on local plants, animals, history and Native American culture will heighten your experience.  Guides are experienced in canoeing, fishing, and camping.  In addition to cleaning and cooking fish and doing other various camp chores, our guides will teach you fishing techniques and North Country wilderness skills to last a lifetime.

The rate charts below are the price per person for the whole trip.  All prices include necessary equipment, food and a guide.

All return clients will be eligible for a 10% discount off any package price.

Permits

Clients are required to purchase their own permits through the Superior National Forest.  We will be happy to assist you through that process.

All necessary equipment is provided.  These items will make your trip more comfortable and productive

 1 - Bending Branches wood bent paddles  they are 15 % more efficient - $4.00 per day
 2 - Comfortable canoe chairs - $2.00 per day
3 - Collapsible camp chairs - $1.00 per day
4 - If you want a larger tent than you really need - $10.00 per day
5- Portable fish finder - $10.00 per day

If you chose to fly, Wilderness Journey can make arrangements for pick up/drop off to and from Duluth/Ely airport. Inquire about shuttle options from Minneapolis as well.

Special Packages

Wilderness Journey’s TOW BOAT PACKAGES

The Tow Boat packages will allow clients to reach the interior of the park in one day and also allow them to leave the park in one day.  Tow to any entry point on Lac La Croix is $200 round trip per person plus guide fees.  One-way tow to any point on Lac La Croix is $115 per person plus guide fees. There is an additional $90 fee for each canoe.  Gas surcharge may apply. Contact us for further details.  

Wilderness Journey's PRESIDENT'S PACKAGE

The President package is designed for 3 people, each with their own guide.  The trip will include a tow boat ride to allow more fishing time and also a less strenuous trek.  The guides will set up all equipment and portage most of the gear as well as cook gourmet meals every day.  This package will be during the months of late May and June to ensure a great fishing expedition.  The Deluxe rate is $2000 for each person, a total of $6000.  No more than 3 clients and 3 guides will be on the deluxe trip.  This package will be an awesome wilderness experience with less physical strain.  It’s a must-do trip for those with physical ailments or for those who are "getting up there" in age who have always wanted to go into the Boundary Waters.  This might be the trip for you!

Military Special for veterans or currently enrolled military persons... 1 military person free with a group of 4 ...a year round special to honor those who serve our great country!

Wilderness Journey accepts cash, check, Visa and MasterCard.

Groups/individuals are required to pay half (50%) of the total amount due as a deposit to book a trip.  The remainder is due two weeks before the trip date.  Groups should assign one leader to collect the payment due from all members and issue one payment to Wilderness Journey.

Trip dates will be booked on a first-come first-serve basis.  Entry points will be established in accordance to the guide permits issued by the Superior National Forestry office.  

Refund Policy: Cancellations should be submitted in writing with a reply to indicate receipt.

• 75% of the payment collected will be refunded if trip is cancelled more than 1 month before the trip date.
• 50% of the payment collected will be refunded if trip is cancelled 2-4 weeks before the trip date.
• There will be NO payment refunded if the trip is cancelled less than 2 weeks before the trip date.  Non-refunded money can be applied toward another trip in the same season or next season with Wilderness Journey LESS CANCELLATION FEE and according to availability.
